AGRICULTURE AND FOOD UNDER THE SUN OF SARDINIA
A SARDINIAN STORY
"We are an Operational Group of the PEI AGRI made up of farmers, storage centers, mills and processors, committed to innovating the way of producing, transforming and supplying the cereal sector and offering the market high quality typical products, handcrafted from raw materials first cultivated in Sardinia, respecting tradition. "
The field of action of the project idea refers to the cereal supply chain and has productivity and sustainability as its objectives.
From the point of view of productivity, it is planned to:
strengthen the “equal” cooperation and the vertical dialogue of the supply chain between the subjects of the GO, proposing it as a polarizer of companies and intelligences;
sharing research tools and knowledge to modernize, economize and facilitate processes, knowledge and territorial rediscovery ("retro-innovation" of recipes, processed and plant varieties);
to innovate the methods of projection on the local, EU and international market (marketing, translations, market research);
rediscover and enhance the territory, ancient crops and historical recipes, equip them with certifications and enhance them within a medical-nutritional framework accompanied by talking labels and communicating the right price to the consumer;
introduce precision technologies in crops to increase productivity and sustainability.
Likewise, from the point of view of sustainability, it is planned to: act on mitigation and adaptation to climate change and desertification in progress, with the use of conservation agriculture techniques, the selection, stabilization (self-production) and adoption of rustic, ancient varieties and resistant or the selection of mixtures and new varieties with participatory genetic improvement processes, also useful from a medical-nutritional point of view; operate cooperating with research and experimentation structures, consultants and experts in the field to interface with the practice of operators to stabilize productivity and manage natural disasters also through the adoption of meteorological monitoring; monitor and calculate the environmental results and arrive at common solutions, to be exploited by the consumer.
These objectives and activities promote innovation and environmental awareness and the efficiency of use of resources in production areas to stabilize agri-food and biomaterial production by adapting and mitigating climate change, intervening in the relationship with research, consultants and local communities with the exchange of ideas and practical corrections for use in situ and for large-scale productions, creating added value and raising awareness of research for new innovations, thus fully achieving the transversal innovation objectives of the Sardinia RDP 2014-2020.
